Students in the special education setting will benefit from a document camera by enhancing the ability to see text more clearly. I can show examples and work through problem-solving and corrections on written materials. The whiteboards will help because speaking with masks can be very difficult. Students can hold up their answers. This helps develop writing while communicating. Since this is a language arts class that has students of different backgrounds and languages, we will be experiencing a wide variety of stories about people. The books I have chosen tell stories about several different cultures, abilities and interests to keep students engaged and learning about other cultures and exceptionalities. These stories help us learn about each other while developing reading skills. Students will be engaged in reading about others who have situations for example people of color, people with disabilities and people who have immigrated. Fred Rodger's broke barriers between all types of people. He is a role model so I added a book about him. Helen Keller and other selections provide a role model for the students and they like to read about those who have succeed through their challenges. The enjoyment of reading these books will help with fluency, comprehension, writing and doing projects about people. The Coping skills and Trauma-Informed care workbooks I have chosen let us practice skills we need to develop strategies for social-emotional health. This year there has been a special focus on social-emotional learning and Trauma-Informed Care. The Rubk's cubes help students with ADHD, ASD, and other exceptionalities have sensory tools to help them focus. The headphones help students focus and block out potential distractions.
