There was an immediate \"buzz\" in the room as they saw the variety of healthy and delicious treats available to them. For many of my students, the transition from a long school day to our after school club can be a challenge when their energy levels are dipping. Seeing their faces light up as they realized they wouldn't have to learn on an empty stomach was a highlight for me. One student even shouted, \"It's like a party in here!\"—which set a wonderful, positive tone for the rest of our session.\r\n\r\nWe have been using these resources every single day as part of our \"recharge and reflect\" time. Before we dive into our club activities, we sit together, enjoy a snack, and talk about our day. This small moment of nourishment has completely transformed the focus in the room. A specific moment that stands out was during a particularly challenging team-building project last week. Usually, frustration peaks around 4:00 PM, but because the students were fueled and happy, they stayed patient with one another and collaborated beautifully to solve the problem. These snacks have truly turned our club into a space where they feel cared for and ready to work.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next big step is a community service project where the students will be designing posters and planning a local \"kindness drive.\" Because your generosity has taken the worry of \"afternoon hunger\" off the table, my students can now dedicate 100% of their brainpower to these creative leadership roles. We are currently working on our first round of sketches, and the stamina I am seeing is incredible. Thank you for providing the fuel that allows these young leaders to shine; you have truly made our after school club the best part of their day!","fullyFundedDate":1760461391816,"projectUrl":"project/color-create-and-empower-supplies-for/9793959/","projectTitle":"Color, Create, and Empower: Supplies for CHICAS Club","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9915979_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739153186850","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9915979"},{"teacherId":9540888,"projectId":9928491,"letterContent":"I would like to say a very sincere thank you on behalf of my students. The lotion and lip balm have been a huge hit with my students. I have some students who are not even in my class who have made purchases! \r\n\r\nI made sure to get some very plain scented lotion in case students weren't interested in the flowery options but all the fruit and flower scents have been popular. It looks like next year I should stick with the fun scents. \r\n\r\nAs for the lip balm, I've had students asking to get multiples so they can share them with friends in other classes. I expected the mint flavor to be popular but everyone is going for coconut or watermelon.","fullyFundedDate":1766508996292,"projectUrl":"project/the-weather-outside-is-frightful/9928491/","projectTitle":"The Weather Outside Is Frightful!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9540888_orig.jpg?crop=1403,1403,x0,y93&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715268983618","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9540888"},{"teacherId":9697047,"projectId":9646990,"letterContent":"We are absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude for your generous support of our Donors Choose project, which funded the materials for our classroom rewards system and classroom store! Because of your commitment, I was able to stock my reward drawers with exciting items and implement a system that recognizes and celebrates daily academic effort and positive behavior. Seeing the excitement on my students' faces when they earn a reward or shop in the store is truly priceless. Your donation didn't just purchase supplies; it changed the culture of our classroom by providing encouragement and rewards for success.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this rewards system on my students has been very positive, fostering both deep motivation and genuine feelings of accomplishment. Students are now highly engaged in setting and working toward goals, whether it's mastering a challenging science concept or demonstrating kindness to a classmate. When they cash in their hard-earned PBIS points at the classroom store, they aren't just getting a prize, they are experiencing the direct, immediate result of their hard work and dedication. This consistent feedback has boosted their self-esteem, showing them that their efforts are seen, valued, and celebrated. I have worked with him for 3 years now and he struggles with literacy. He depends on the voice-to-text functionality of his Chromebook to help him complete his work.
