Our school year is off to an amazing start and that, in part, is thanks to you! The mini composition books have been a hit and we love using them to explore word parts. The clorox wipes were out of stock at the time of purchase, but I was able to pick some alternatives. While not serving the same purpose, we were able to get some cardstock which is so important for making task cards and resources I will use year after year. I was also able to get some multiplication charts for each student's desk, which makes a big difference in supporting all students with grade level content, regardless of their multiplication fluency.\r\nI am so excited to see what this year has in store for my fourth graders. My students bring so much energy, curiosity, and joy to school each day, and these new resources give them more ways to channel that enthusiasm into reading.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the excitement was off the charts! Students rushed to peek inside the reading tent, eagerly picked out new books, and couldn't wait to try the microphone for our first Reader's Theater performance. One student proudly exclaimed, \"I sound like a real actor!\" while reading into the karaoke machine—an unforgettable moment that showed how powerful it can be when reading feels like performing.\r\n\r\nWe are now using the tent as our cozy escape for independent and partner reading. It gives students a calming place to curl up with a good book, build stamina, and fall in love with stories. The new books are fueling their imaginations and keeping them engaged with just-right texts, while the microphone has turned our read-alouds into joyful celebrations of fluency and expression.\r\n\r\nThe next step for my students is to continue building confidence through performance and practice. We'll be using the karaoke machine for upcoming Reader's Theater scripts, giving students opportunities to share their voices, practice expression, and celebrate reading together. At the same time, the reading tent and new books will remain a daily part of our literacy routine, helping every child strengthen skills while experiencing the magic of stories.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students a space where reading feels like an adventure, a performance, and a comforting part of every day!","fullyFundedDate":1746580274545,"projectUrl":"project/from-storytime-to-showtime/9324229/","projectTitle":"From Storytime to Showtime!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Achtor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6522158_orig.png?crop=699,700,x0,y272&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651278949069","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6522158"},{"teacherId":6522158,"projectId":9237605,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my first graders now have magnetic letter boards that we use every day during phonics instruction with UFLI and in our small groups. These boards have completely transformed the way my students practice word building. Instead of just hearing and repeating sounds, they are now actively moving letters, blending sounds, and creating words right in front of them.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their eyes lit up. They couldn't wait to \"play with the letters,\" and it was wonderful to see how quickly their excitement turned into deep engagement with phonics practice.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll continue using the boards to strengthen word-building skills, practice spelling patterns, and support students as they move into reading longer words and sentences.
