My goal was to spend less time preparing materials and more time connecting with my students, helping them grow academically and socially through purposeful small group instruction.\r\n\r\nWhat makes my students special is their enthusiasm for learning. They are kinesthetic learners who thrive when they're able to touch, move, build, and explore. This project has helped to create a classroom that truly meets their needs.\r\n\r\nThank you for donating to our classroom. My students silent read daily, and we're working on building \"reading stamina.\" This means, every child reads the whole time the class allots to silent reading. No moving around, or getting new books, and all kids should be reading the entire time. (Of course, we allow kids to use the bathroom or get tissues if needed)! We have built up to 15 minutes so far this year. We started with 2 minutes. The kids feel very proud when they are able to add time!\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating option makes kids excited to sit in a cozy spot and read when it's their day. When you walk into my third grade classroom during silent reading, you could hear a pin drop. Twenty eight kids are all lost in their own books, and it's beautiful to see.\r\n\r\nWe also use the cozy chairs and little tables for small group work. When I work with a small group of students, they can sit on the rug comfortably on their little chairs, and work on the little tables. My students were elated and humbled to know that people that don't know them donated to their cause, and want them to succeed.
