Students were able to learn and showcase amazing songs like Creep, 505, and Smells Like Teen Spirit. This passionate band was able to perform three time at our schools Art Fest, Talent Show, and even the 8th Grade Benefit concert which helped raise funds for their graduation!\r\n\r\nNow, a new group of students—deeply inspired by those first performers—has picked up where they left off. They've started forming their own bands and practicing regularly, and the addition of the drum kit has been a game changer. It's helped keep the momentum going and has made it possible for even more students to engage with music in a hands-on, meaningful way. From the moment the shipments began to arrive, the students were filled with excitement and curiosity. Once all the boxes were unpacked and the materials revealed, they couldn't wait to get their hands on everything. The counseling office and play area has become something they look forward to each week. They now have developmentally appropriate tools to process their emotions and navigate difficult experiences—building confidence, resilience, and other essential life skills along the way.\r\n\r\nStudents have used the toys to role-play as police officers, veterinarians, caregivers, and more—exploring themes of control and responsibility. The clay and sand have become powerful mediums for giving shape to their real-life stories, while the safari animals & family figures help them re-enact social dynamics and peer interactions. The arts and crafts box has been especially meaningful, with students creating pieces that represent their emotions or serve as heartfelt gifts for loved ones—offering both sensory comfort and emotional expression during challenging conversations.\r\n\r\nAs the school year winds down, I'm excited to welcome a new group of students into this space next year.
