Our school is deeply committed to inclusion and play-based learning, serving 230 diverse students—about half of whom have disabilities. When the new materials arrived, the excitement in the room was electric. My students' faces lit up with pure joy as they saw the colorful traffic signs and the large alphabet bowling set. These aren't just toys; they are essential tools that make learning accessible and fun for every child in our program.\r\n\r\nCurrently, our gym is transformed into a bustling \"city.\" The students have been having a blast driving their cars and riding bikes while navigating the new traffic signs. The stop sign is, by far, the class favorite! This activity is doing wonders for their development, as it helps them recognize environmental print and understand safety rules in a natural, engaging way. We have also introduced the large foam letters from the bowling set during play, where students have been eagerly exploring the shapes and textures of the alphabet.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we have some exciting team-building lessons planned. We will soon be using the alphabet bowling letters for relay races to gather letters and spell short words, as well as collaborative games where students work together to find and knock over specific letters with balls. These activities will build both their literacy and gross motor skills. Your support has truly opened up a world of active learning for my students, and we are so grateful for the impact you've made on our classroom community!","fullyFundedDate":1769206981098,"projectUrl":"project/letters-in-motion/10037524/","projectTitle":"Letters in Motion!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Walsh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4821058_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1506386799202","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/amanda-walsh"},{"teacherId":4821058,"projectId":9874331,"letterContent":"I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support. When our new bridge with stairs and railings first arrived, my students were absolutely beaming with excitement! They were immediately drawn to it, eager to test out the steps and practice jumping while safely holding onto the sturdy railings. It has quickly become a centerpiece of our classroom!\r\n\r\nWe are already putting this wonderful resource to great use in a variety of ways. For many of my students, walking up and down stairs is a key physical goal, and this bridge provides a safe, controlled environment to build that essential coordination. Meanwhile, during independent play, students take pride in navigating the stairs on their own, often using them as a tool to act out dramatic scenes.\r\n \r\nLooking ahead, we are thrilled to find new ways to challenge our students and keep them moving. Our next steps involve incorporating the bridge into indoor obstacle courses and structured group games that focus on balance and motor planning. By integrating this equipment into our daily lessons, we are not just teaching them how to move—we are helping them build the confidence they need to navigate the world around them.
