Your generosity has completely transformed our learning space into a hands-on design studio, and the impact on my students has been incredible.\r\n\r\nWhile many people think of 3D printers as just making cool gadgets, in our classroom, they are powerful tools for critical thinking, geometry, and problem-solving. Having multiple printers means students don't just watch a demonstration, they get to be the creators. They are learning how to take an idea from a flat, 2D screen using design software, calculate dimensions, and turn it into a physical, tangible object.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for the students is seeing their own imagination come to life. Right now, we have been running two major design projects that have everyone thrilled:\r\n\r\n-Jewelry Design: Students are designing their own custom beads from scratch, learning about symmetry and scale, and creating actual, wearable jewelry.\r\n-Board Game Creation: Students are engineering their very own board games, which includes designing and printing the custom game pieces. They aren't just playing games anymore, they are the inventors behind them.\r\n\r\nThis technology has been a game-changer for all of my students, but it has been especially magical for a few who usually struggle with traditional \"pencil-and-paper\" tasks. One student in particular, who often feels overwhelmed by reading and writing assignments, completely lit up during our board game project. The chance to build something 3D allowed them to showcase incredible spatial awareness and logic skills that we hadn't seen before. They became a classroom leader, helping peers troubleshoot their designs.\r\n\r\nBy funding these printers, you didn't just give us technology, you gave my students a completely new way to feel successful, creative, and proud of their hard work. These resources helped us celebrate and recognize students who achieved 98% attendance or higher, reinforcing the importance of showing up to school every day ready to learn.\r\n\r\nOur students were so excited when they saw the rewards and activities prepared for them. Many students talked about how proud they felt to be recognized for their hard work and commitment to coming to school consistently. One of the best moments was watching students cheer each other on and celebrate together during the event. It created such a positive and motivating atmosphere throughout our school community.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to use these incentives to encourage strong attendance habits and build a culture where students feel motivated, valued, and connected to school. Moving forward, students are already talking about reaching their attendance goals for the next celebration, and many are encouraging their classmates to improve their attendance as well.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us create meaningful experiences that motivate our students and make school a place they are excited to come to every day. It has quickly become the heart of our classroom! We use it every day for morning meetings, read-alouds, phonics lessons, and whole-group math discussions. When the students first saw it, they were so excited and couldn't wait to sit down in their own special spot. During our first story time on the rug, I immediately noticed how much calmer and more focused they were. Having a comfortable, clearly defined space has helped them feel safe, organized, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThis rug is more than just a place to sit — it's where our classroom community comes together. We'll continue using it for partner talks, counting activities, class discussions, and social-emotional learning. It gives my students a cozy space to share ideas, solve problems, and celebrate their growth together. In our technology classroom, finding tools that are both accessible and engaging can be a challenge, but these robots have bridged that gap perfectly.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your gift was felt immediately. The Indi robots offer a unique, screen-free way to learn programming through color sensors, which is ideal for my students who benefit from tactile and visual learning. It has turned our \"coding time\" into a highlight of the week.\r\n\r\nI wanted to share a specific story that truly captures the magic of your donation. I have one student who typically shows very little interest in classroom robotics or technology; they often prefer to observe from the sidelines rather than participate. However, from the moment I introduced the Indi robot, this student was absolutely enthralled. Watching the robot react to the different colored tiles brought a level of pure joy and engagement I haven't seen from them in this subject before. Seeing them smile and actively experiment with the robot's movements was a breakthrough moment for both of us.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students are not just learning about cause and effect and sequencing, they are building confidence and discovering that they belong in the world of STEM.","fullyFundedDate":1767061390229,"projectUrl":"project/little-bots-big-impact-diverse-learner/9687103/","projectTitle":"Little Bots, Big Impact: Diverse Learners in Computer Science","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Quigley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4046374_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1478817173473","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msbquigley"},{"teacherId":9935647,"projectId":9272411,"letterContent":"I want to begin by saying thank you, you are amazing! When I told my students our project was completed and I began opening the supplies they were ecstatic. Their little faces lit up and you can see their smile so big from ear to ear. They were all super excited to use the supplies and they helped me organize them in our classroom. My students have been able to use the weighted puppy in moments when they are happy, sad, angry etc. It has really helped them self regulate their emotions and instead of screaming and crying when something is wrong they have been using their voice and asking to use the dog. They become even more relaxed when they walk over to our clam corner decorated with the rainbow carpet we received. It brings them a sense of joy and calmness I have witnessed some of them meditating at the carpet 😊 🧘🏻♀️ \r\n\r\nIn addition, we have read all the books with their favorite book characters narrating the story thanks to you! Students have taken turns being the 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf. Their dramatic play and story retelling skills are developing so well it amazes me. The plush toys help them become more engaged and focused. They were so excited to engage in small group activities as well thanks to the fabric you donated in which they can create a design of their own. Let's not forget the brand new caddies, they were so excited they helped me organize them. Overall, my students and I are so extremely grateful for you! It is the littlest of things that helps students world brighten up! Thanks to these materials my students education will be impacted as it will continue to promote an engaging, positive, and developmentally appropriate environment.","fullyFundedDate":1746785721236,"projectUrl":"project/playtime-centers-vital-component-for-a/9272411/","projectTitle":"Playtime Centers: \"Vital component for a high-quality education program\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Guzman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9935647_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741125422359","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9935647"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5472","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":722,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":95,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.2,"schoolId":5472,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sandoval Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sandoval Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/sandoval-elementary-school/5472"}
