Getting this funded at this point of the year also helps to keep the students engaged, when it is hard to keep focused and engaged. I can find fun units to supplement the learning targets in which we are working. \r\n\r\nTo be honest, most of these gift cards will be used next year. At this point of the school year, special education teachers are not sure what they will be teaching in the following school year. The student population often dictates what we are asked to teach. Therefore, these gift cards will not only augment my co-teaching classes, but will also assist if I am placed in a resource room for any period of time. \r\n\r\nMy students don't know it yet, but they are also very thankful for your kindness, as their learning will not be restricted to curricula alone, but informed by creative thinkers and teachers who were able to put their time into making these lessons. Through our class novel set of Because of Mr. Terupt, students are developing deeper comprehension skills such as making inferences, identifying character traits, and understanding multiple perspectives, since the story is told through different voices. They are also learning important life lessons about empathy, responsibility, and the impact of their choices on others.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become a highly engaging and collaborative experience. Students read independently, in small groups, and together as a class, often pausing to discuss key moments, ask questions, and share their thinking. They write responses in journals, participate in thoughtful discussions, and make personal connections to the characters and events. The energy during reading time has shifted—students are eager to read, talk, and reflect.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled to stay engaged with reading are now especially excited about this book. They are drawn to the relatable characters and real-life situations, often asking to read ahead or revisit important chapters. This sense of belonging is the spark that turns a reluctant reader into a lifelong learner.\r\n\r\nSince these materials arrived, I have seen a noticeable shift in student engagement during independent reading time. The vibrant illustrations and inclusive narratives have made our reading nook the most popular spot in the room. My students aren't just practicing their literacy skills; they are building empathy, celebrating their identities, and developing a deeper understanding of the diverse world around them.\r\n\r\nYour support goes far beyond the physical books.
