It can bring up a lot of feelings that they have never experienced before and feelings that they may be uncomfortable with. It can also bring positive feelings with all the thoughts about what school can bring and the new experiences that come with being in a new environment. Parents can have similar feelings as well. These books were a way to welcome our families to the school, engage our families with their kids and school and a peace giving to let our families know that we understand the emotions that come with starting school. In the books we included a welcome to school packet, a milestones packet and tips for our parents to engage with their children about school and their emotions. \r\n\r\nOur students felt welcome and were excited being able to engage in their own decision making by picking a book to read with their parents! Our parents were happy to get the information regarding their child's development with an already given way to engage their child through storytelling, sharing, and asking questions! \r\n\r\nWe are very grateful for the opportunity that you gave us in being able to engage our students and parents through reading together, which is really fundamental in their development, both academically, socially and mentally. You helped us provide a way for parents to engage with their children with something that they were interested in and picked themselves! \r\n\r\nYou also helped us foster the importance of parent engagement through reading with their children to help open up conversations of all kinds! Thank you again, so much! We really appreciate the time that you took not only reading about our project but donating to make it happen!!
