Their excitement quickly turned into curiosity as they began asking questions about cosmetology careers and entrepreneurship. Students who may not always feel confident during traditional lessons became eager to participate, collaborate, and demonstrate their creativity. The lab has helped them understand that cosmetology requires patience, professionalism, problem-solving, and continuous practice.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue developing their techniques while learning about workplace safety, customer service, career pathways, and the steps required to operate a cosmetology business. They will use their new knowledge to design a salon concept that includes a name, service menu, prices, budget, and marketing plan. Recently, my students used their new composition notebooks and markers during a hands-on collaborative writing project. Each group mapped out an original story, using the markers to create detailed mind maps and character sketches before drafting their narrative chapters. Having a working classroom printer allowed us to print out their final drafts, images, and editing checklists on the spot without losing momentum.
