They get so excited when it is time to watch Flocabulary! We use it in all subjects weekly. On Fridays, we use Flocabulary to watch the Week in Rap - that is their favorite! It's a video featuring current events happening around the world and set to music. The kids are so engaged when watching it and we have fantastic conversations afterwards about the different events that are happening in the world.\r\n\r\nThe website also has great videos for all subjects so we use those videos throughout the week to learn about anything from fractions to proper nouns. It truly is an amazing tool that has made an impact in my classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1727323277425,"projectUrl":"project/flocabulary-fun-for-fifth-graders/8811821/","projectTitle":"Flocabulary Fun for Fifth Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stern","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp243789_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1449023435008","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/carrie-stern"},{"teacherId":10066710,"projectId":9438833,"letterContent":"My students and I are so grateful for our new classroom carpet. We start and end each day sitting together on it—after breakfast in the morning and again right before dismissal—which has already helped create such a calming, predictable routine for my learners. The carpet has quickly become a favorite spot for collaborative activities. Some of the class favorites include completing giant puzzles, reading stories, and building together with different materials.\r\n\r\nWhen the carpet first arrived, many of my students were surprised and so excited. They loved exploring the numbers, letters, and the little turtles woven into the design. Due to their developmental disabilities, many of my students have limited spoken language, but their bright smiles and the way their faces lit up said everything. This carpet has truly made our classroom feel more welcoming, engaging, and joyful. You have no idea how much better my days have gotten since this new machine has entered my life. One memorable classroom project involved using the markers, books, and games in a storytelling activity. I introduced a book that featured various characters and settings. The students were tasked with drawing their own characters and then using the markers to create different scenes. This activity helped the students work on their narrative skills, such as sequencing events, using descriptive language, and building sentences. The games also added a fun, interactive element, allowing the students to practice turn-taking and using specific language targets in a relaxed, engaging way.
