The equipment has given us the opportunity to introduce pickleball in a more organized, engaging, and hands-on way. Before receiving these materials, it was difficult to provide enough equipment for students to practice effectively. Now, more students are able to participate at the same time, which has increased their involvement, confidence, and enthusiasm during class activities.\r\n\r\nWe are using the pickleball equipment to teach students the basic skills and rules of the game. Students are learning how to properly hold the paddle, serve the ball, return a shot, move around the court, and maintain a rally with a partner. They are also learning important concepts such as teamwork, sportsmanship, communication, patience, and respect for others. One memorable classroom moment happened when several students were able to complete a successful rally for the first time. Their excitement was immediate, and their classmates cheered for them. It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another and celebrating progress, even when they were still learning the basic skills.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new pickleball materials, they were very excited and curious. Some of them had heard about pickleball, while others had never played the game before. They were eager to hold the paddles, examine the balls, and begin practicing. Their reactions showed how much having the proper equipment can motivate students to become active participants in their own learning. Even students who were initially hesitant to participate became more interested once they saw their classmates enjoying the activity. The new resources helped create a positive and welcoming environment where students felt comfortable trying something new.\r\n\r\nThe pickleball activities also provide opportunities for students to develop physical fitness and coordination. Through serving, returning, moving, and rallying, students are improving their balance, hand-eye coordination, reaction time, and overall movement skills. At the same time, they are learning how to communicate with partners and make decisions during a game. These experiences allow students to see that physical education is not only about exercise but also about problem-solving, cooperation, responsibility, and personal growth.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue strengthening the students' fundamental pickleball skills. We will focus on improving their serves, returns, paddle control, court movement, and ability to maintain longer rallies. Students will participate in partner drills and small-group activities where they can practice these skills in a supportive environment. As their confidence and abilities grow, we plan to introduce more game strategies, scoring procedures, and friendly competitions.\r\n\r\nEventually, the students will participate in class matches and a small pickleball tournament. This will give them the opportunity to apply what they have learned while demonstrating teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for their classmates. The goal is not simply to determine who wins, but to help students recognize their own progress, challenge themselves, and enjoy being physically active.\r\n\r\nYour support has made these learning experiences possible. The new pickleball resources have brought energy, excitement, and new opportunities into our physical education program. My students are not only learning a new sport but also building confidence, friendships, healthy habits, and important life skills. Thank you for investing in our students and helping create a classroom environment where they can learn, move, grow, and have fun together.","fullyFundedDate":1787664949087,"projectUrl":"project/friday-dink-serve-bringing-pickleball/10503399/","projectTitle":"Friday Dink & Serve: Bringing Pickleball to Friday Colloquium!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. JULIAN","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10174111_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757298855589","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10174111"},{"teacherId":9931330,"projectId":10503319,"letterContent":"The beautiful rainbow bins have arrived safely! Bringing these hands-on atomic model kits into our classroom at Dyett High School for the Arts has fundamentally changed how my chemistry students understand the invisible world of chemistry. When the packages first arrived and we opened them, my students reacted with pure excitement. Their eyes lit up as they unpacked the brightly colored atomic spheres and flexible bond connectors, immediately piecing them together. As creative, visual learners, transitioning from two-dimensional textbook drawings to tactile, 3D structures made chemistry feel real, approachable, and exciting to them from day one.\r\n\r\nThese resources have made a profound impact on my chemistry students by turning abstract theoretical concepts into a physical, hands-on reality. During our lesson on chemical bonding and molecular geometry, students worked in small groups to build molecules like water ($H_2O$), carbon dioxide ($CO_2$), and methane ($CH_4$). The biggest breakthrough happened when students began manipulating the models to see electron pair repulsion in real time; one student who had been struggling with VSEPR theory held up their bent $H_2O$ model and exclaimed, \"Oh, I see it now—the unshared electrons are actually pushing the hydrogens down!\" That instant lightbulb moment proved just how powerful tactile learning is for our young artists.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve taking these molecular models into our upcoming unit on chemical reactions and organic chemistry. Students will use the kits to physically break reactant bonds and rearrange the atoms into products, helping them master the law of conservation of mass in a deeply memorable way. They will also build complex organic polymers and connect their molecular structures to artistic materials like dyes and synthetic fibers. Thank you for empowering my chemistry students to touch, build, and truly master the microscopic world!","fullyFundedDate":1763573620808,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-atoms-and-moleculeswhere-curio/9718183/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Atoms and Molecules—Where Curiosity Meets Chemistry!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. JULIAN","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10174111_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757298855589","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10174111"},{"teacherId":9304377,"projectId":10157335,"letterContent":"Incoporating a book that includes not only the history of Chicago's school closure but the one that students sit in daily is essential in ensuring students know why education — specifically public education matters. \r\n\r\nNow that we have a class set— I will promote that all freshman teachers teach this book and its communal and historic concepts to our students.
