My students absolutely love the new rug. When my students first saw the new rug, they were intrigued by the images that correspond with the alphabet. A parent was able to read a book to the class, while all the students sat on the rug. The parent volunteer also sat on the rug with the students, while reading a book to the class. This project of having a parent serve as a secret reader, was especially important.
