A bag of fruit snacks or a juice may not seem like much but it goes a long way to building rapport with students. I have been covering a few leaves of absence, meaning I'm in schools for a couple of months and then I am gone. The nature of this means it can be difficult to form connections with kids which makes offering them support and a listening ear harder (on them!).
