Words cannot express how grateful my students and I are for your generous donations. My students have been so excited to read all of the wonderful magazines. They have been enjoying reading the magazines on their own as well as together as a class. We have been talking about all the current events in each magazine, as well as the lessons being learned from these great articles. The students in my room are amazing kids who work very hard every day and they are definitely putting your gift to good use. I look forward to creating many engaging lessons for my students to complete using the Scholastic magazines. Again, I would like to reiterate how grateful my students and I are for your generous donations. Your gift will surely provide many new learning opportunities for my students.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity! Because of your generosity, my K–2 learners now have access to engaging Scholastic magazines that they can hold, explore, and connect with.\r\n\r\nMany of my students are developing foundational reading skills, and these magazines provide high-interest, accessible texts that make reading feel exciting and achievable. Through these new texts, students will practice phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, identifying main ideas and details, making connections, asking and answering questions, and learning how informational texts are organized. The magazines also introduce students to new topics, nonfiction text features, and opportunities to respond through speaking and writing.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks different depending on students' needs. We will use the magazines during whole-group lessons, small-group instruction, partner reading, independent reading, writing activities, and classroom discussions. Some students will listen and follow along as I read aloud, while others will practice reading familiar words, sentences, and short passages independently. The color-coded sections of the magazines will be especially helpful because they give students visual cues to follow along, locate different parts of the text, and understand how the magazine is organized. These supports help students feel more confident and successful as they read.\r\nStudents who may feel hesitant about traditional books are especially enjoying the magazines because the topics, photographs, illustrations, and shorter sections immediately capture their attention. Students who are still building reading confidence can choose articles that interest them and celebrate small successes, while more independent readers can explore the text features, learn new vocabulary, and share what they discover with classmates.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful parts of this project is that students will be able to bring their magazines home. This creates a special connection between school and home and gives students the opportunity to share what they are learning with their families.\r\n\r\nOne of my students put it perfectly when they said, \"I get to take my magazine home? It's mine!\" That excitement and sense of ownership is exactly what I hope to create for my students—a feeling that reading belongs to them and that they can be successful readers.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is giving my students more than magazines. You are giving them opportunities to practice important reading skills, explore new subjects, discover information, and experience the confidence that comes from becoming a reader.\r\nThank you for believing in my students and investing in their learning. Your kindness will make a difference every time one of my students turns a page, learns a new word, follows along with the color-coded sections, or proudly shares something they read.","fullyFundedDate":1779371002576,"projectUrl":"project/small-hands-big-readers-the-joy-of-p/10264929/","projectTitle":"Small Hands, Big Readers.
