After we eat breakfast in the classroom, we go to the rug for Morning Meeting time. It is a crucial time of the day- there's community building, welcome songs, learning songs, and phonics time. It is also an open time where we chat a little bit and set the tone for the day. In short, it's essential.\r\n\r\nThroughout the day at certain times, we gather together on the rug for whole-group lessons before splitting off for small group instruction and individual practice. It's so nice to have a comfortable spot to start the lesson of the day--it beats having students sit at their tables!\r\n\r\nYour gift has given us the landing spot for all of this learning. My students were so excited when they first saw it. They spent the first few days talking about which were their favorite pictures (and the pictures are really cute!). My personal favorite is the \"O for Octopus,\" as I always say, \"Be patient, I am not an octopus teacher!\" :)\r\n\r\nThe kids love the ABCs, and honestly it is the best rug I've ever had, as in the past I have had rugs in a colorful pattern, but without the letters.
