Our school is very diverse, with students who speak many different languages, and many of my 7th grade students are still learning English. The iPads have been a huge help in supporting their learning. Students are able to use translation tools, visuals, and audio support to better understand lessons and classwork. This has helped them feel more confident and successful when learning new content in English.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is being able to learn in ways that meet their individual needs. They enjoy using iPads to listen to directions, look up words they don't know, and show what they know through typing, recording, or interactive activities. I've seen students who were once very quiet become more engaged and willing to participate. Some students who struggled to complete work independently are now able to do so with the help of these tools.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students feel more supported and included in the classroom. I worked with multiple small groups, tailoring lessons to meet each student's needs, and saw incredible growth. One powerful example was a student who had been struggling for some time — using the data collected from the program, I was able to advocate for her to receive an IEP. Now she has access to additional classroom supports alongside the structured phonics instruction, setting her up for much greater success.\r\n\r\nStudents enjoyed the hands-on activities and the way words and sentences followed patterns they could decode. The structured, step-by-step approach helped build their confidence, and they began tackling words they would have otherwise skipped or not known how to decode. This coming school year, I'll be using these resources to expand intervention work into more grade levels, reaching even more students who need this type of explicit, supportive instruction.
