In second grade, we focus on expanding reading ability and growing in comprehension skills. In our classroom, each student takes a different book home every day. We have a designated time at the end of each day for students to reread the books they take home and take tests on them to earn points! These are not \"grade\" points, but points they earn to work toward prizes. The books and resources you helped make possible are a huge hit with my students. The most common books I see getting picked off the shelf are by far \"Fly Guy\", \"There was an Old Lady\", and \"Pig the Pug\" books! \r\n\r\nI love getting to see my students who come from low-income families experience the joy of getting to read brand new books. Their faces light up when they pick out a new book with the characters they love!\r\n\r\nI am so thankful my students are able to grow in their love for reading and in their comprehension skills using the resources you provided. Your generosity has brought a collection of books into our room that my students are genuinely excited to read. Having high-interest books like these makes such a difference in helping students see reading as something fun, enjoyable, and worth looking forward to.\r\n\r\nWhile these books are entertaining, they also provide so many opportunities for learning. Through Diary of a Wimpy Kid, students can work on important reading skills such as identifying the main idea and supporting details, making inferences, understanding character traits and motivations, identifying problems and solutions, summarizing, and using context clues to understand unfamiliar words. The books also give us opportunities to discuss themes such as friendship, making good choices, handling mistakes, perseverance, and learning from our experiences.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks different throughout the day. Sometimes students read independently, choosing books that interest them and reading at their own pace. We also read together, talk about characters and events, make predictions, and share our thoughts about what we are reading. My goal is to create a classroom where students feel comfortable taking risks as readers and discover that there is a book out there that they can truly enjoy.\r\n\r\nThe excitement surrounding these new books has been especially wonderful to see. Some of my more reluctant readers have been drawn to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series because of the humor, illustrations, and relatable characters. Students who may not always choose to read are now eager to pick up a book and find out what happens next. That excitement is so important because it helps build reading stamina, confidence, and a positive attitude toward books.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping me create a classroom library filled with books they are excited to read. Your generosity is helping my students grow as readers while also helping them discover the joy that comes from getting lost in a good book. Your kindness has made a meaningful difference in my classroom and, most importantly, for my students.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, I have been able to purchase engaging, high-quality digital resources that make learning more interactive and accessible for my students. Technology in our classroom is much more than simply using a computer or tablet—it allows students to practice skills at their own level, receive immediate feedback, and learn in ways that are engaging and meaningful. These resources are especially helpful for students who need additional practice or a different approach to mastering a skill.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students is getting to learn through activities that feel fun and interactive rather than simply completing worksheets. They love being able to use technology to practice their skills, and I love seeing their excitement when they realize they are learning while having fun!\r\n\r\nI have also seen particular students who may not always be confident in traditional learning activities really warm up to these technology-based resources. Students who sometimes hesitate to participate are often more willing to try when they can interact with the activity and work at their own pace. Seeing their confidence grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of this project.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and giving me the opportunity to provide them with resources that make learning exciting, engaging, and accessible.
