As mentioned in the project description, I am a special educator and work with 6th grade students with a variety of learning disabilities but mostly with those with specific learning disabilities in reading. As you may or may not know, students spend the first several years of their schooling learning to read and in the mid elementary years and into middle school, students have to switch to a stage of learning where they are assumed to know how to read so now they must read to learn. However, for students with dyslexia and other reading disorders, this switch leads to frustration and the risk of falling behind in content while they continue to try to grasp how to read. \r\n\r\nBy providing us with the funds you have, you have enabled us to provide a set of headphones to each student within the class setting for them to listen to text while they are exposed to it. This has benefited my students in many ways. When their peers are reading grade level books for classroom novel studies with vocabulary they are unable to decode yet, my students are able to listen as they follow along, hearing each word pronounced as they go which increases independent reading comprehension. They are also able to utilize other programs that their peers are using for additional learning in reading, writing, and content areas such as social studies and science. Thank you so much for helping me to make this happen for my students!","fullyFundedDate":1737649710012,"projectUrl":"project/pump-up-the-volume-differentiated-text/8856085/","projectTitle":"Pump Up the Volume!
