If you know anything about being a first-grade teacher, especially a first-year teacher, you know that I am working all day, every day to make sure my students have everything they need to learn and grow. There is always something to prepare, something to organize, or something new to create for my classroom. As a first-year teacher, you have no idea how much your donation has impacted both me and my students. I am so incredibly thankful for people like you who are willing to invest in my classroom and help make these things possible. I truly could not do everything I do for my students without the support of generous donors like you!\r\n\r\nThe trays, whiteboard, and cushions you helped provide are used in our classroom every single day! The trays have quickly become one of our most-used resources. We use them during morning work, math centers, reading centers, and just about any time students are working independently. My first graders use them almost like portable writing surfaces, and they are so much easier for little hands to manage than traditional clipboards. The whiteboard has also become an important part of our daily routine. We use it every morning during our morning meeting, during whole-group reading lessons, and when working with small groups. One of my favorite things about it is that I can move it around the classroom to wherever it is needed, making it easier to work with students and support their learning. And the cushions? The pictures I am sharing will speak for themselves! My students absolutely love them. They are the perfect size for little learners to carry around the room and find a comfortable spot to work. They have made our classroom feel even more welcoming and give my students a little more flexibility in finding a spot where they can learn comfortably.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these resources will keep playing a part in our daily learning. From practicing new math strategies to building reading skills and participating in morning meetings, your donation is helping create a classroom where my students can learn, explore, and grow. Being a first-year teacher has been such a rewarding experience, but it also comes with a lot of learning and figuring things out along the way. Knowing that there are people willing to support me and my students means more than I can put into words. Thank you for helping make my classroom a better place for my students. Your generosity is making a difference every single day, and I am so grateful!\r\n\r\nWith heartfelt thanks,\r\n\r\nMrs. Churchman\r\nFirst Grade Teacher","fullyFundedDate":1785167246450,"projectUrl":"project/building-engagement-one-lesson-at-a-tim/10305185/","projectTitle":"Building Engagement, One Lesson at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Churchman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10517843_orig.png?crop=901,901,x0,y25&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779538683713","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10517843"},{"teacherId":5287465,"projectId":9951888,"letterContent":"Since receiving the headphones for my first graders, we have been able to improve our technology time in the classroom. Students are not distracted by headphones that do not fit them properly, partially work, or root around to find a pair that actually work. We use technology as content review, for individualized instruction in math and reading, as well as exploration for students with books on sites like Epic or math skills like Prodigy. The kids have been so much more engaged, allowing us to get the most out of our time each day. Because the students no longer need assistance with headphones, I can immediately begin working with individual students to provide instruction and remediation, or assess skills.
