I've crafted specialized pencil grips to assist my students in holding writing utensils with greater ease and comfort. These grips have significantly improved their ability to engage with various writing activities. Each day, the students eagerly use dot markers, markers, and crayons for journal writing and other creative writing exercises. The vibrant colors and tactile experiences provided by these tools not only enhance their engagement but also stimulate their creativity, making the writing process more enjoyable and accessible.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, these materials have been instrumental in helping me design 3D printed alternative pencils tailored to the unique needs of my students. By adapting these resources, I've been able to provide personalized writing solutions that empower each student to express themselves more effectively. The customized pencils, combined with the adaptive grips, have transformed the way my students approach writing, promoting both independence and confidence in their work. This creative approach to writing tools has fostered a more inclusive and supportive learning environment, where every student feels capable and inspired to participate.","fullyFundedDate":1753403452711,"projectUrl":"project/writing-utensils/9412550/","projectTitle":"Writing Utensils","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10055884_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749932019045","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10055884"},{"teacherId":10055884,"projectId":9412553,"letterContent":"My students have been actively engaged in understanding their emotions. Providing our special needs students with new sensory and learning items for the classroom keeps them engaged and interested in learning. Having new items to give the input they need to keep thriving in their environment is something that is hard to describe to people that do not work directly with students in this population. It's a unique classroom with students who have different sets of learning techniques. Giving them such an array of items to hold, play with, manipulate while also learning things like colors, numbers, sorting is an amazing gift.\r\nThe boxes came over a number of days and each time I brought a new one into the classroom, the students gathered around the table practically taking them out of my hands before I could even take them out of their individual boxes. One student in particular took each item to the back of the room to \"review\" it for his classmates so he could show them how to use it. They continually return to these new items in the classroom and use them appropriately as intended and sometimes make up their own ways to use it. \r\nI cannot thank you enough for helping us fill the classroom with these amazing items that we could otherwise not afford to buy with our limited budgets. The bonus is that it's so much fun!\r\n\r\nThe class talked about things that they were interested in cooking. We narrowed it down to 4 recipes for this month. We made visual shopping lists and went on a trip to the grocery store to purchase the items. I think the favorite part of the trip was scanning items at the self check out.\r\n\r\nGiven that we received all of our items, we can now start cooking! We plan to make personal pizzas, pancakes and bacon, mac-n-cheese and strawberry, banana, blueberry and OJ smoothies within the next 4 weeks.
