Using the new quilling supplies, students recreated famous artworks in a unique and hands on way by rolling and layering paper strips to create texture and detail. It challenged students to slow down, focus on craftsmanship, and think creatively about how to transform a well known artwork into something new.\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, many were curious but unsure how simple strips of paper could become artwork. Once they started experimenting, they became excited and highly engaged in the process. It was great to see students take pride in the details and share different techniques and ideas with each other.\r\nThis project has inspired students to continue experimenting with mixed media and textured artwork. Many are already talking about ways they can combine quilling with painting, drawing, and collage in future projects and create more original pieces using the skills they learned.","fullyFundedDate":1765684549984,"projectUrl":"project/paper-quilling/9957177/","projectTitle":"Paper Quilling","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Van Ness","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10159719"},{"teacherId":10159719,"projectId":9548610,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our recent needle-felting project. Because of your generosity, my students were able to try a medium that was new to them. They really enjoyed it!\r\nNeedle felting stretched their creativity in a different way than our usual art projects. It requires slow, repetitive work, so students had to practice patience and stick with the process even when it took a long time to see results. Many of them commented on how satisfied they felt when their small shapes finally started coming together.\r\nOne of the best parts of this project was that students created a handmade Christmas ornament to give to a family member. The attached photos show just how much effort and joy went into each piece.\r\nYour support made this experience possible, and it truly made an impact.
