In today's technology-driven world, most state assessments are now completed online. Although I teach kindergarten and we do not participate in the \"big\" state tests, we are still required to administer reading assessments. The results of these assessments are sent to the state to help evaluate how our school is performing, and the assessments themselves are selected by the state.\r\n\r\nMost headphones that are available for purchase are designed for adults or older students. In my 26 years of teaching—primarily in the primary grades—I have found that the headphones typically purchased by schools are often too large for kindergarten students. Because they do not fit well, they can sometimes be more of a distraction than a help during testing. I have learned that headphones specifically designed for children fit better, provide clearer sound, and help reduce classroom distractions during online assessments. Your support is greatly appreciated, as my students will now have comfortable, well-fitting headphones that allow them to focus more effectively.\r\n\r\nThank you also for supporting the purchase of uppercase letter magnets. I currently have sets of lowercase letter magnets, which are wonderful for word building activities. At the beginning of the year, we focus heavily on name practice so students can learn the letters in their own names. An important part of learning to write their names correctly is using an uppercase letter at the beginning. Since I previously did not have uppercase letter magnets, my students were quick to remind me that they should not be using lowercase letters to start their names. They will be very excited to now have uppercase letters available so they can correctly build and practice writing their names.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and support of our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1769178252027,"projectUrl":"project/quality-headphones-help-students-when-do/9839645/","projectTitle":"Quality Headphones Help Students When Doing Assessments","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hanners","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1401181_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1560384291717","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jhanners"},{"teacherId":8663330,"projectId":9131212,"letterContent":"Words cannot express how valuable this gift of headphones has been. Having headphones that work well has greatly improved students' testing as they can focus on answering questions accurately instead of trying to just get their volume to work, it has supported students in responsibly by reinforcing the proper way to care for supplies, these headphones have reduced the number of misbehaviors occurring during during centers because students are less frustrated and more focused, and it has greatly impacted their ability to use and practice technology in the classroom. \r\nStudents were so excited to receive these new headphones- they couldn't wait to try them out! I have never seen a group so motivated to try their best on our monthly testing. I believe the gift of these headphones greatly impacted their overall success in the classroom.
