I let him know a week prior that after he finishes the next couple of lessons that I was going to have him pause because he would be in the perfect spot to learn what truly solving an equation entails. He fought through the frustration and every day would check that he would still get to work with 'the blocks'. I reassured him each time. We finally got there and it all just became so crystal clear to him!! He has been on a roll in his math course ever since and is already nearly 3/4 done with it.
