The kids may only have one recess a day but they are still kids and need to have time to burn off that extra energy. By burning off that energy it allows the students to focus more in the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour generous donation made it possible to get a variety of new balls so everyone had something to do during recess. We have basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, 4 square balls, dodgeballs, footballs, jump ropes and so much more. We received them at the end of the school year and I placed a few out for the kids to use. However when we started the new school year I had all new balls out for them and it was so exciting to watch their faces! The kids totally love all the variety of choices. \r\n\r\nSomething that makes my heart happy too is that the kids are taking responsibility of the balls and making sure they come in each day to be placed on the cart. In the past they would often be left outside which left it open to be stolen, or the weather (hot/cold) would expand the seams which made them leak air. Thank you so much from every single student, not only this year but for years to come! Middle school may only get one recess a day and for a short time but this play time is needed for their attention in the classroom and to burn off that extra energy. Your generosity is giving our students opportunities that they otherwise might not have in our small rural school district.\r\n\r\nMy students are curious, inventive, and eager to learn, and because of your donations, they will now have access to hands-on STEM materials that bring science to life. The STEM car-building kits and magnetism materials will allow students to design, build, test, revise, and race their own vehicles while exploring the forces of motion and magnetism in exciting, meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nInstead of simply reading about science concepts in a textbook, students will be actively experimenting and discovering how magnetic forces attract, repel, and interact. They will collaborate with classmates, solve problems together, and use the engineering design process to improve their creations. These experiences help students develop critical thinking, creativity, perseverance, and teamwork skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, this will be their very first opportunity to work with STEM materials and build a functioning project with their own hands. Your support is helping ignite confidence, curiosity, and a love of science in students who thrive through hands-on learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their future. The caterpillars arrive and were so tiny (about the width of finger nail) and quickly grew huge. Every day the kids would inspect them and wanted to come to school just to see how big they had gotten or how much food they ate overnight. \r\n\r\nThe caterpillars went into chrysalis and they were so excited. Since each caterpillar goes into its chrysalis at different times, sadly we had three knocked off before their chrysalis had hardened. However this turned into a wonderful lesson about how we are each different and how in life their are no guarantees. \r\n\r\nOnce we moved the chrysalis into the netting awaiting their arrival as butterflies the excitement became contagious as they checked a hundred times a day. As they emerged as butterflies the kids were able to watch them come out with wet wings and how they dried the wings before they could fly. It was a lot o fun to see them learning and asking wonderful questions, that sometimes I could answer and others we had to go research. \r\n\r\nWe gave the butterflies sugar water along with fresh flowers to feed on. While it was sad to release them into the wild, it was a wonderful gift for the students as they each got to hold the butterflies before releasing them. We watched them fly away and wished them all well. Over and over the students said thank you for allowing them to learn about them. Several went home and asked their parents to order some too. \r\n\r\nWhen learning involves excitement day to day it is something that will stay with the students for years!
