Seeing the kids' faces light up as we unboxed everything was unforgettable. They couldn't wait to roll up their sleeves and get to work. In fact, just looking at the variety of resources instantly sparked their imaginations—they immediately started brainstorming and coming up with brilliant ideas for what they wanted to create. With your resources, our students went through the entire cycle of launching a business.\r\n\r\nA Standout Moment: The culmination of their hard work was an incredible two-part event. First, the students delivered professional presentations to explain their exact process for bringing an item to market. Next came the grand finale: Market Day! We invited their families to school, and the students set up shops to sell their handmade products. Visitors used special \"Mākeake Bucks\" to shop, and our young entrepreneurs got to experience the thrill of real-world commerce firsthand. They were so proud to showcase their hard work!\r\n\r\nBecause of your thoughtful investment, this is only the beginning. We managed our supplies carefully and still have materials left over to jumpstart next year's Young Entrepreneurs class.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, our goal is to turn this into a cherished annual tradition. Instead of learning abstract programming concepts only on paper or screens, my students programmed Dash to move, sense, and respond to its environment, turning invisible coding logic into something they could see and test. As they created block-based code and watched Dash carry out their commands, my students quickly understood cause and effect, practiced debugging, and built upon their confidence in problem-solving abilities. This active, playful approach was especially effective for my students who learned through experimentation. Dash also strengthened collaboration skill sets as my students worked in pairs or small groups to design challenges, troubleshoot problems, and celebrate their coding success. Coding with Dash shifted my students' learning from passive listening to active designing, testing, revising, and improving. By connecting coding to real-world careers in technology, engineering, and innovation, Dash helped students see their learning as purposeful and relevant. For students who struggled with traditional academics or had learning disabilities, Dash offered another pathway to success, allowing them to excel in coding and problem-solving while developing confidence and a growth mindset.\r\nFor my students, the most exciting part of Dash was the immediate visual feedback and the creative control it provided. When they coded Dash to move through an obstacle course or follow a path, they saw their work succeed in real time, which was far more motivating than worksheets or textbooks. Students were especially enthusiastic about using Dash alongside other classroom technologies, such as Sphero Indi and Bee-Bots, because it gave their work an authentic purpose and added friendly competition. Several students who often struggled to stay engaged became especially interested in technology. One student with a reading-based learning disability discovered a talent for coding, and seeing her confidence grow as she mastered challenges was powerful. Another student who was usually shy became an active collaborator, eagerly explaining his ideas and helping classmates debug their programs. For these students, Dash was more than a coding tool; it helped them recognize their strengths, build friendships through teamwork, and experience the joy of learning. Dash reached students who may have felt unsuccessful in traditional academic settings and gave them meaningful opportunities to thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1771715919580,"projectUrl":"project/making-the-pace-in-our-maker-space-with/10109154/","projectTitle":"Making the Pace in our Maker Space with Dash Robotics","teacherDisplayName":"Teacher Ms.Bonnetty","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4894854_orig.jpg?crop=871,871,x43,y43&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714757634772","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teacherbonnetty"},{"teacherId":8356727,"projectId":10105777,"letterContent":"From the bottom of my heart—and from every seat in our 6th-grade classroom—thank you.
