Math is often students least favorite subject. In many cases, this is due to a lack of really understanding what is happening when we solve math problems. For division we usually hear things like \"how many 2s can fit into 18?\" this is really abstract for students. The math stackers make it SO easy for students to see what we mean and be successful in finding the answer to 18/2. It also really helps students see when we have a remainder in division and understanding why we call it a remainder. \r\nWhile I've shared a lot about how helpful the math stackers are for division, they are useful for many other concepts. We have used them for decomposing numbers into smaller chunks to help make multiplication with larger numbers more managable. I am really looking forward to doing a future lesson on prime and composite numbers using the math stackers as I know it will \"click\" a lot more with students using this manipulative.
