Many of my students have sensory needs that need to be addressed in the classroom. The materials for this project will be used to create a safe space for my students to address their sensory needs in an appropriate way rather than resorting to self-injurious behaviors. The floor mat will be used to not only lay out the space but also provide plenty of floor cushion so students won't hurt themselves. I want to add items that my students will find calming and meet some of their sensory needs. This project is just the basics of what I hope will turn into an area where my students can have their sensory and calming needs met in a safe and appropriate manner.
