Your support has brought so much excitement, curiosity, and joy into our classroom!\r\n\r\nAs soon as the materials arrived, my students were buzzing with excitement. Their eyes lit up at the sight of the colorful books and gardening tools, and there were audible gasps when we unboxed the Ninja Food Blender. \"We're really going to make smoothies?!\" one student exclaimed. It was a moment of pure joy that I wish you could have witnessed firsthand.\r\nWe've already put the materials to great use. One of our favorite projects so far has been our \"Garden to a Healthier Me\" experience. Students planted herbs and leafy greens using the garden supplies you provided. As part of our health and nutrition unit, they researched the benefits of different fruits and vegetables from the books, then created their own smoothie recipes. Using the blender and cups you donated, we turned their recipes into delicious, healthy smoothies they were incredibly proud to share with each other. One student, who was previously hesitant to try anything green, drank a kale and fruit smoothie and declared it \"way better than I thought!\"\r\nLooking ahead, we're expanding this project into a full \"Healthy Living\" unit. Students will track their own wellness goals, experiment with new healthy recipes, and continue caring for their garden throughout the semester. These experiences not only support science and literacy learning, but they also empower students to make healthier choices and connect with the natural world around them.\r\nYour gift has planted seeds—literally and figuratively—that will grow all year long. The joy on their faces as they build and create with these tools is truly inspiring, transforming what can sometimes be a challenging subject into an engaging adventure. The Imagination Design Builders were also a massive hit, showcasing astounding creativity and collaboration! Similarly, shared drawing and writing experiences on the Boogie Board Re-write tablets are powerful tools for peer learning, significantly strengthening their reading, writing, and math skills. Students especially loved clearing their \"slate\" in an instant! \r\n Because of your kindness, our students will continue to benefit from an environment where they can actively engage with their learning, collaborate with their peers, and develop essential life skills alongside their academic knowledge. Many students benefit from having a quiet, hands-on tool that helps them stay engaged during lessons without becoming distracted or disruptive. Fidgets offer a way to release energy and stay grounded, which has led to noticeable improvements in attention during both independent work and whole group instruction. We've also seen a reduction in off-task behaviors as students use fidgets appropriately to support their learning.\r\n\r\nBeyond academic focus, fidgets have supported students' emotional well-being. When students feel overwhelmed or restless, having access to a fidget allows them to calm themselves and stay present without needing to step away from the classroom environment. This has helped students develop independence and confidence in managing their emotions. Overall, these simple tools have made a big difference in creating a more inclusive, supportive, and student-centered classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1742157672263,"projectUrl":"project/engaged-minds-tools-for-learning-succes/9171495/","projectTitle":"Engaged Minds: Tools for Learning Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rita","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3029020_orig.jpg?crop=1380,1380,x0,y110&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707842371210","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3029020"},{"teacherId":9373819,"projectId":9152265,"letterContent":"I would like to personally say Mahalo to all of your kindness and graciousness by donating to my PSAP program at Ele'ele Elementary School. \r\n When the materials first arrived—especially the sensory toys, pop-up tents, and art supplies—my students were absolutely thrilled. The pop-up tents instantly became cozy, safe spaces for students who needed a quiet moment, and the sensory toys helped many of them focus and self-regulate throughout the day. The art supplies opened up a world of creativity, especially during a project where we created a \"Feelings Collage.\" Each student selected images, colors, and textures to represent different emotions they experience, and they proudly shared their collages with the class. It was a powerful way for them to express feelings they sometimes struggle to name with words.\r\n\r\nSeeing the joy and calm these materials brought into our classroom was incredible. One student even said, \"This feels like my calm space now,\" which melted my heart.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we're using these materials in a social-emotional learning unit focused on emotional vocabulary and mindfulness.
