This table provides a more intimate setting for students who need more direct support in certain subjects. We are able to use this table for not only the SpEd students, but for all students who may need a little more support. It is easier to see the students in this setting because they are closer to a teacher and the teacher can focus on a few students at a time, rather than during whole group time. This is especially necessary for math instruction. The SpEd students receive small group instruction during math to go at a slower pace and have more space to use more manipulatives if needed. Because of the shape of the table, the students are also able to communicate easily with each other for help and for socialization while in this small group. \r\n\r\n We try to make this classroom inclusive, so even when we are not using the table for small group instruction, students love to sit at the table for partner work or during independent work time. The table gives our classroom another option for seating, taking us a step closer to flex seating. It also helps that we have some \"wobbly chairs\" at the kidney bean table to provide some wiggle time and a \"fun\" seating choice. \r\n\r\n With this table, we are seeing the SpEd students more eager to learn in a small group and more readily conversing with their peers, rather than relying on the teacher or just sitting, doing nothing. We hope to see even more growth within all of our students with the excitement of a \"group\" kidney bean table. Because of your generosity, my students now have portable lap desks, flexible seating options, and personal whiteboards that have already made a big difference in our daily learning.\r\n\r\nThe portable lap desks allow students to comfortably work anywhere in the room. They can spread out in the room, directly face the tv, or collaborate with classmates while still having a sturdy writing surface. This has helped students feel more comfortable and focused during independent work and small group activities.\r\n\r\nOur new flexible seating options have been especially exciting for the students. Being able to choose where they sit helps them take ownership of their learning and find the space where they concentrate best. Some students work better while sitting on the floor, while others prefer a different style of seat. Giving them this choice has increased both engagement and productivity in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe personal whiteboards have quickly become one of our most-used tools. Students use them to solve math problems, brainstorm ideas during writing lessons, and quickly show their thinking during whole-class discussions. Because every student has their own board, everyone can participate and practice their skills at the same time.\r\n\r\nYour support has created a more interactive, comfortable, and engaging learning environment for my students. In a Kindergarten inclusion classroom, our biggest project is building independence. We are using these new tools to create \"success stations\" during our literacy and math blocks.\r\n\r\nA specific moment that stands out happened during our \"H-Brothers\" phonics lesson. A student who typically struggles with focus was able to use our new multi-sensory scaffolds to stay engaged for the entire 15-minute rotation. Because he had the right tactile support to \"feel\" the sounds, he successfully identified the /sh/ sound in \"ship\" and \"shell\" for the first time. It wasn't just a literacy win; it was a win for his confidence.\r\n\r\nThe reaction was pure Kindergarten joy! When the boxes arrived, my students were convinced it was a \"classroom birthday.\" There were literal cheers as we unboxed the materials that would help us with our \"safe body\" goals and our reading adventures.\r\n\r\nOne of my students, who often finds transitions difficult, kept patting the new sensory regulation tools and told me, \"Now I have a way to stay in my safe bubble.\" For 5-year-olds, these materials aren't just supplies; they are a signal that their classroom is a place designed specifically for their needs. The day the whiteboards arrived, my students' eyes lit up with excitement. One student exclaimed, \"It's like we have our own teacher boards!\" Their enthusiasm has not diminished since that first day.\r\nWe use these whiteboards every single day across all subject areas. During math, small groups gather around a whiteboard to solve word problems together, drawing pictures and testing different strategies while I rotate to support each group. In reading, students use them to map out story elements, practice spelling words, and brainstorm ideas for their writing. \r\n\r\nThe whiteboards have given my students the freedom to think big, make mistakes, and erase without worry—which has made them more willing to take risks and share their thinking.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're incorporating the whiteboards into our upcoming units on telling time and counting money. Students will work in stations, using the whiteboards to draw clock faces and practice making change with visual representations.
