Because of your generosity, books have become one of the most powerful tools in our daily learning. While many of our donors simply enjoy reading, in preschool we use books intentionally to build the foundation for future academic success.\r\n\r\nThe new texts you provided help us teach critical early literacy skills in engaging, age-appropriate ways. Our students are developing vocabulary as we introduce new words, discuss their meanings, and connect them to their own experiences. We strengthen listening comprehension and oral language by asking children to make predictions, describe characters, and retell stories in their own words. Through repeated readings, children learn that stories have a beginning, middle, and end, and they begin to understand how books work. We also build print awareness—helping students recognize that we read from left to right and that words carry meaning.\r\n\r\nThe books have also supported social-emotional development. Through stories, children explore topics like kindness, friendship, problem-solving, and managing big emotions. These conversations help preschoolers learn how to express themselves and build positive relationships with peers.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially benefited from the new books. We know not all families are able to buy books. Now, because of your generous donation, we are able to send books home for the week to share with families. This will help build family relationships and help families be part of their child's learning process.\r\n\r\nYour donation has done more than add books to our shelves. It has created excitement around reading and meaningful opportunities for learning. Our students are building essential literacy skills, strengthening language development, and developing a love of stories that will support them for years to come.
