Entering my second year of teaching special education, I faced a daunting challenge after a devastating Kona Low flooded my classroom, destroying almost all the resources I had personally funded during my first year. Because of your kindness, we were able to rebuild, and I am thrilled to share the incredible impact your donations have made.\r\n\r\nWe have seamlessly integrated these new resources into our daily routines to create a safe, sensory-tailored learning environment. The weighted blankets and heating pads have become essential tools for self-regulation, helping students ground themselves when they feel overwhelmed. The new carpet and cozy bean bags have transformed our reading and discussion area into a comfortable haven, while the specialized lighting provides a calming atmosphere that reduces sensory overload.\r\n\r\nOne of my students, who typically struggles with sustained focus and anxiety during reading tasks, wrapped themselves in a weighted blanket, settled into a bean bag, and was able to comfortably participate in the entire lesson. Having a space that caters directly to their tactile, auditory, and visual needs has completely broken down barriers to learning.","fullyFundedDate":1780003234565,"projectUrl":"project/history-special-education-teacher-impact/10308126/","projectTitle":"History Special Education Teacher Impacted by Kona Low","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Elise","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10518985_orig.jpg?crop=1713,1713,x100,y496&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779814678690","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10518985"},{"teacherId":9357542,"projectId":9776549,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity.
