My students have benefited greatly from the organizational supplies I was able to purchase to help with practicing skills during English Language Arts and Math. My students have loved the new books that were added to our classroom library, specifically the Dog Man series, and The Lego ideas book. I've observed my students enjoy reading a variety of books that peak their interest and not just required texts.\r\n\tDeveloping engineering skills through STEM activities has also been a focus for me in the classroom this year and the students have embraced and thrived with the challenges and creativity required during these tasks. The students are grateful for the opportunity to use the new resources to explore their engineering skills.\r\n\tI am grateful for the opportunity and the generous donors I was connected with who helped build my first classroom into a positive and engaging learning environment. Students reacted with excitement at the end of each month's HERO's announcements. Over the last 9 weeks, Kaumana's attendance rates have been consistently higher than the same weeks last school year, demonstrating that even small improvements can make a powerful difference. When students are in school, they are learning. \r\n\r\nAlthough this program is focused on attendance, the refreshed rewards naturally supported Kaumana's PBIS values of students making an effort to take responsibility for their school day by coming to school ready to learn. These monthly recognitions allows students to celebrate collective class effort that foster pride.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we hope to expand these celebrations by introducing a more tiered HERO reward system that recognizes another level of achievement. Future goals include incentives for perfect attendance-- no absences, excused or unexcused-- and for maintaining zero tardies. \r\n \r\nWe will continue to encourage students to take ownership of their daily attendance and move the school toward a culture where every student strives to be a HERO.","fullyFundedDate":1758817989906,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-launch-our-attendance-heros-prog/9537203/","projectTitle":"Help Us Launch our Attendance HEROs Program","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Halsted","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2431255"},{"teacherId":9920416,"projectId":9635952,"letterContent":"On behalf of the third-grade students and staff at Kaʻūmana Elementary School, please accept our deepest gratitude for your incredibly generous donation of recess games and snacks received in October 2025. Our students are loving it!\r\n\r\n\r\nYour support directly addresses our goal of creating the best possible learning environment for our students, both in and out of the classroom. As you know, a simple act of generosity can impact a child's entire day, and your contribution will help us in two powerful ways:\r\n\r\n\r\nMaking Recess Matter: By helping us secure new games and activities, you have done more than provide entertainment. You have invested in our students' physical, social, and cognitive development. These new supplies have been powerful learning tools, fostering teamwork, problem-solving, and memory skills during their essential time to recharge.\r\n\r\nKeeping Bellies Full: Your donation ensures we can provide healthy snacks to give students the fuel they need. This simple support is key to helping them maintain concentration in class and the energy required to play, learn, and make it through the entire school day focused.\r\n\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our third graders now have more engaging, meaningful recesses and the sustained energy to succeed in their daily studies. I saw students who normally hang back on the sidelines step up and become leaders.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were so excited!
