I love seeing students hold up their whiteboards with pride after completing an activity—it gives me an immediate opportunity to celebrate their progress and address areas where they may need additional support.\r\n\r\nThe pencils, erasers, and highlighters are also being used every day. Because not every student comes to class with all of the supplies they need, having these materials available helps ensure that everyone can take notes, complete assignments, highlight important information, and participate in lessons without worrying about whether they have the necessary tools.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite additions has been the motivational stickers. I remember how exciting it was as a student to receive a sticker on my work, especially when it showed that my effort and learning had been recognized. When students demonstrate proficiency on an assessment or show significant growth, receiving a small sticker of recognition can bring a big smile to their faces. Even something as simple as sharpening their colored pencils gives students an opportunity to practice responsibility and learn how to care for and maintain their classroom materials.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, my students will continue using Color Breaks as part of our classroom routine. Using a simple checklist, students work together to clean the gravel and decorations and make sure the aquarium area is well maintained. Their excitement about having an important classroom job has been wonderful to see!\r\n\r\nThe noise-canceling earphones are also helping students create a more focused learning environment. Students who are easily distracted can use them while working on I-Ready and other independent assignments. Having this option allows them to concentrate on their work and remain engaged with fewer distractions.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, my students will keep building on these routines. Students can combine academic learning with creativity by creating projects that allow them to express their understanding in their own unique ways. These activities also provide a positive outlet for self-expression and help students build confidence in their abilities.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts of this project is that many of these materials can be reused throughout the year. Students will continue participating in interactive learning stations, collaborative projects, and hands-on activities where they can move, create, discuss, and apply what they have learned.
