These new texts introduce our students to a variety of lessons: from building vocabulary and comprehension to understanding story structure and character development. They also offer rich opportunities for critical thinking, encouraging students to make connections between texts and their own lives, and to explore new ideas and cultures.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks vibrant and dynamic. Students engage with texts through guided reading groups, lively discussions, and creative projects that deepen their understanding. They learn to ask questions, summarize key points, and express their viewpoints—skills that extend beyond reading into all areas of learning.\r\n\r\nWe've noticed particular excitement among our emerging readers and those who previously struggled with engagement. These new books feature diverse characters and relatable themes that resonate deeply with them, sparking a genuine love of reading. Using this beautiful paper art form, they rolled, shaped, and glued strips of paper to bring historical, cultural, and social themes to life. Through this creative process, students found their own voices and expressed what they've learned in a unique, personal way. It's been inspiring to see their creativity and critical thinking come together so beautifully.\r\n\r\nThanks to the Nearpod license, we have been able to extend learning beyond the walls of our classroom. Virtual field trips to ancient civilizations like Mesopotamia, India, China, Rome, Greece, the Incas, and Egypt have enriched our curriculum and deepened students' understanding of the world. These immersive experiences connect history, science, and art, making learning exciting and real.\r\n\r\nMy goal remains to provide hands-on learning where creativity and critical thinking meet so students can explore, express, and grow. These bins allow us to keep our manipulatives and other resources organized. Also, it has strengthen our procedures and routines as the students know where to access their supplies when needed. Another item that was donated is the game Jenga. Coming into a new classroom this school year, there were not a lot of available activities for students to play with during indoor recess time. Jenga has taught the students more about friendship, collaboration, and responsibility. Furthermore, magnets were one of many items that were kindly donated to the classroom. These magnets have been used to display my students' work. Being able to display the students' work on the board have amplified many students' confidence in their learning. Every student in my class grew motivation in turning in quality work as it will be showcased to all. \r\nOnce again, mahalo to all for donating the these supplies to my classroom. The storage bins purchased keep the sand, slime, and water beads clean and organized in the classroom! \r\n\r\nOf the materials, the doll baby is one of my favorites. We use it primarily as a reinforcer and for language acquisition. We are able to cover: head, nose, eyes, mouth, ears, arm, hand, leg, foot, and belly. Our students who seek pressure and tactile input like to run the brush on their skin to self-regulate. The monkey foam is easy to mold into cartoon characters for my artistic student. So far, she has made several ducks and frogs. My new favorite item is the feelings face set. The materials are made of felt and easy for the students to manipulate.
