We completed a study using our magnet wands and magnetic chips. My students were tasked with using the magnet wand to move the magnetic chips a preset distance and then calculating the distance the wand moved the chip. They also had to calculate the amount of force needed to move the chip when given a predetermined set of factors acting on the wand and the chip. I am happy to report that all of my students were able to successfully move their chips and calculate the distance and force. They had a lot of fun moving the chip around the course set up for the lab. It was truly a memorable experience for the students and myself.
