I have seen over the past year that when students are comfortable, it enhances their learning. For example, when I let some students sit on the floor to learn, they focus more and their grades improve. I also started bringing fidget toys into the classroom and I began to see test scores rise. Students would tell me that they do not like Social Studies, but they love coming to my room because they feel comfortable which in turn, helps them learn. I have done research into alternative seating in the classroom and I have read how it helps create a positive classroom environment and promotes learning.
