As soon as I opened the boxes, they crowded around, pointing out prefixes and roots they recognized, challenging each other to build words on the spot. One student picked up a game card and said, \"Wait—we get to play with words now?\"\r\n\r\nWe've already begun using the materials during our small-group reading instruction and literacy centers. They'll use the games and manipulatives to explore even more word combinations and deepen their understanding of how language works.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and giving them the tools to become stronger, more confident readers. When they realized the books covered everything from animal survival to outer space to real-world inventors, they dove right in—some reading on the carpet, others sharing pages excitedly with their friends. \r\n\r\nWe've already put the books to work in our reading center; Watching them confidently pull out books, take notes, and help each other find information was a powerful reminder of how access to the right resources can unlock motivation and curiosity.\r\nThese books are becoming part of our everyday learning—read-alouds, small-group instruction, independent reading, and inquiry projects. \r\n\r\nYour kindness has created opportunities that will last far beyond this school year. Your gift has made a remarkable difference in my students' learning and daily experience in our classroom.\r\n Since the arrival of the new books, our reading corner has become one of the most popular spots in the room. Students rush to check out books as soon as they have an opportunity, and I often hear excited conversations about favorite characters, exciting plot twists, or newly discovered authors. Many students who were once hesitant readers are now eager to explore different genres - especially after discovering that there are stories that reflect their own interests and experiences. \r\n The variety of titles has also allowed me to better match each child with books at their reading level and curiosity level. Students are more motivated than ever to read and earn AR points through are incentive program. These moments have not only strengthened their literacy skills but have also fostered a deeper love of reading and a stronger sense of community in our classroom. \r\n Your contribution has turned reading from an assignment into an adventure. The joy and enthusiasm my students now show toward books are truly inspiring, and its all thanks to your support. The children were very excited as well, when I shared the news with them and were buzzing with ideas for what we could look at with the microscopes!\r\n\r\nWhen the microscopes arrived, students immediately began looking at every day items under them. Their favorite experience was was looking at blood! I have a diabetic student in my class who pricks her finger multiple times a day. The students were thrilled when she asked if they could see her blood under the microscopes. They were shocked to see the actual cells moving! This was great timing since we had been studying cells! Also, I had several students bring in pond and creek water from near their homes. Again, students were amazed at what microscopic critters were swimming in the water that we couldn't see at all without a microscope. \r\n\r\nI continue to have students look in the microscopes every day. They bring in random objects from home, the playground, or lunch to share with the class. I have thoroughly enjoyed the number of times they have said \"Mrs. Carden, come see!!!\" I am so grateful to you for helping provide such exciting moments for my classes.","fullyFundedDate":1755722172569,"projectUrl":"project/microscopes-help-science-come-to-life/9586396/","projectTitle":"Microscopes Help Science Come to Life!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10166628"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_50364","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":768,"numTeachers":46,"percentFrplEligible":48,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":80.6,"schoolId":50364,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pike County Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pike County Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/pike-county-school-district/pike-county-elementary-school/50364"}
