The goal of the group is to promote reading and also give our students the opportunity to participate in the district's picture book reading bowl competition. Students in grades 2nd and 3rd grade were responsible for reading a total of 20 book which included some of the titles from our donor choose grant. We also read some chapter books including Fakers by Gordon Korman.\r\n\r\nPicture Book support emotional learning as well as develop students vocabulary skills through images. Students met twice a week in the media center and we read the books together. We also developed questions about the book to get the students prepared for the competition. The students even had the option to take the books home and read them over the weekend to reinforce their understanding of the story.\r\n\r\nYour generous donation allowed my students to prepare early for the competition. We successfully read all 20 books and competed against 28 elementary schools.
