Because of your kindness, we were able to stock up on essential supplies like reeds, mouthpieces, and cleaning kits — the day-to-day items that keep our instruments (and musicians!) in top shape. These supplies may seem small, but they make a huge difference in keeping our rehearsals running smoothly and our students feeling confident and prepared.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful changes I've seen is how much more students are taking ownership of their instruments. With access to proper cleaning materials and well-fitting mouthpieces, they're learning not just how to play, but how to care for their tools with pride. I'll never forget the smile on one student's face when they tried a new reed and said, \"It's so much easier to play now!\" That moment, like many others, was made possible because of your support.\r\n\r\nAs we continue growing as a band program, I'm looking forward to teaching more about instrument care and sound production, especially as our younger musicians become more independent. Your gift has helped remove small but significant barriers for many of our students, and it's allowing us to focus on what really matters, which is making music together. Thank you again for being such an important part of our journey!","fullyFundedDate":1736117440393,"projectUrl":"project/dms-band-essentials-lets-start-with-th/8763575/","projectTitle":"DMS Band Essentials: Let's Start With the Basics","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Loftin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5225120_orig.jpg?crop=2048,2048,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651259408007","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/millerband"},{"teacherId":5225120,"projectId":6918364,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom! Because of your kindness, we received a musical instrument repair kit that has already made a meaningful impact on both my teaching and my students' experiences in band. With these tools, I've been able to make quick fixes to instruments that would have otherwise sat unused or required a long wait for outside repair. This has kept more students playing, practicing, and progressing without interruption — something that's truly invaluable in a music classroom.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out was when a student's trumpet valve got stuck right before rehearsal. In the past, that would have meant sitting out or switching to a different part. But thanks to our new repair kit, we were able to fix it on the spot, and the student was back in their seat, beaming, and ready to play. It's incredible how even small fixes can build confidence and keep momentum going during critical learning moments.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I'm excited to keep growing as a music educator, especially in the area of instrument care and maintenance. Teaching students how to take better care of their instruments is now part of our routine, and I'm seeing them take more ownership and pride in their musicianship. Your support has not only given us tools, but has helped us build skills and habits that will last far beyond this school year.
