While half of the class uses the new noise-canceling headphones to dive deep into Magma Math and Desmos—calculating the distance between points on a coordinate plane without outside distractions—the other half is engaging in \"Math Games\" stations. We've been using Trouble and Don't Break the Ice as rewards for completing their coordinate geometry challenges. It has been amazing to see students who usually struggle with math persistence working harder than ever just to earn ten minutes of game time with their peers. The snack packs have also been a huge hit, providing that extra boost of energy during our long afternoon testing prep sessions.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to use these materials to foster better social-emotional skills through \"Friday Game Circles.\" We are moving into a unit on data distribution and statistical questions, and I plan to have the students track their scores and \"wins\" from the Tic Tac Toe and Trouble games to create their own real-world dot plots and histograms.
