It was definitely a learning experience when they saw that the box that contained the raised garden bed was so small, yet so heavy and then realized that it had to be assembled. Because it only involved the use of a rubber mallet to put together (and careful reading of the instructions), some of them were able to participate in \"making\" the garden bed. \r\nOnce we secured a spot outside our classroom to set up our garden, all the students helped to not only carry the bags of potting soil, but also got to empty them into the raised bed and spread out the dirt with their hands. They were all able to plant several bean seeds and took turns each day watering the plants. There were squeals of delight when the first few buds emerged from the dirt and every day began with a request to check on the garden and the growth of their plants.\r\nThe overall impact of this project has been to give a group of students the chance to do something that they might not otherwise be able to do and to see firsthand the plant life cycle. Many of them live in apartments and do not have gardens or a garden space at home, so this gave them an experience that enriched their school year. In addition, I will be able to use the garden bed again and again with different groups of students as a vital supplement to our science curriculum. \r\nThis was so much fun for the littles and for me! Thank you again for your generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1769177036153,"projectUrl":"project/lets-play-in-the-dirt/9920536/","projectTitle":"Let's Play in the Dirt!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Krauth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10260173"},{"teacherId":10260173,"projectId":9713969,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your help in creating a familiar and inviting environment for my kindergarten class that was added after the school year started. Change is difficult at any age, but can be most upsetting for young children. Because of your donations, I was able to add a bookshelf and several hands-on materials that enabled my students to make a smooth transition to a new classroom and teachers.\r\nThe magnetic mazes, the peg boards, and the counting nuts & bolts have made math time more fun and definitely more beneficial than just simple paper & pencil activities would have been. They have enhanced my students' learning to count and to match numerals in a big way. \r\nThe same for the alphabet magnetic mazes as well. For those students who didn't recognize upper and lower case letters, they had fun moving the letters to make matches with the magnetic wand and therefore got in a little more practice and learned their letters much more quickly. \r\nIn addition, the bookshelf has been a big hit! It is the perfect place for me to display (and store) books on whatever topic we are studying at the time and the books that I read aloud in class. The children can easily see and access books they are interested in looking at or reading and they use it quite a bit throughout our day.\r\nYour donations helped us provide for not only this kindergarten class, but classes of the future as well, so your gift will keep on giving!","fullyFundedDate":1758743367236,"projectUrl":"project/little-hands-doing-big-learning/9713969/","projectTitle":"Little Hands Doing Big Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Krauth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10260173"},{"teacherId":9089840,"projectId":9658489,"letterContent":"What an amazing gift for my students to learn through play! The students have fun exploring what is attracted to magnets and what is not. \r\nWhen we first received the materials the students were very excited. They were engaged and having fun learning. \r\nThe kinetic sand is a great hands on tool to help my students explore and use fine motor skills. I am able to put letter beads in the sand and they can find them and mark them off on a worksheet. The students can build shapes with the sand.
