Because of your contributions, I am able to remain focused on student growth and finding the answer to every math problem instead of the everyday little things like pencils, charged chromebooks, or extra copies. It is because of your donations that I can create the visuals that help my students remember and understand the content.\r\n\r\nMath was not my favorite subject when I was in 7th grade, and I know it isn't my students' favorite subject most of the time. I know that your donations have helped me bring some of the fun back into math. Your donations purchased a color printer for my room that was able to print interactive math tacos. My students LOVE tacos, so when they were struggling to understand combining like terms, I created tacos for them. Each ingredient was a different part of the taco and expression: lettuce was the x2 term, taco meat was the x term, cheese was the y term and tomatoes were the constants. The students were given a list of expressions to create using their tacos. The students were able to connect that you can't \"mix ingredients\" before they're on the taco because of allergies. This helped them to build the understanding that you can only combine things that are the same. They made tacos for the better part of one class period. For some students, it was the light bulb moment that all teachers crave. For other students, it remains a learning process; however, even my struggling students ask for the taco manipulatives to work on their understanding of combining like terms. They enjoyed the activity and admitted that it will just take time to understand. In that one activity, we used the printer, laminating sheets, and pencils that were provided by your generous donations. I know for that single class period, Math was their favorite subject and they had fun. \r\n\r\n7th grade students are kids and still learning how to be responsible for their own items. Even adults struggle with remembering everything all of the time. Your donations helped make sure that my students have the ability to learn while having consequences for their mistakes. In my class, that looks like leaving a shoe at the front of my classroom so they can borrow one of my chargers, pencils or whatever they need. I'm not going to let any of my students not have what they need to complete my class, but I am also going to make sure that I keep my items available for other students to use. While a shoe seems like a crazy request, the students think it is just silly enough to engage in it, but just strong enough to not want to be walking around in their socks. It works! At first I had a good amount of people having to turn in their shoes for pencils and chargers, but now I have one or two a week. \r\n\r\nStudents will always be my first priority and with your donations, I have been able to keep them as such. This was my first Donor's Choose Project, but because of the success I have had with it, I know I will be creating more Donor's Choose Projects. It is the best feeling to be supported by people both close to my heart and anonymously while I work every day to help students understand how Math gives us hope for every problem to have an answer.","fullyFundedDate":1753031212278,"projectUrl":"project/math-shows-us-that-every-problem-has-an/9446799/","projectTitle":"Math Shows Us That Every Problem Has an answer","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Birr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9057932_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751743104127","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9057932"},{"teacherId":8648392,"projectId":8751402,"letterContent":"I hope this letter finds you well. On behalf of the [Organization Name], I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution to our Weekend Food Program. Your support has made an extraordinary impact on the lives of students in our community, and we want to share the profound difference your gift has made.\r\n\r\nThanks to donors like you, we are able to supply students with nutritious food to take home with them over the weekend. For many of these students, the meals provided are more than just sustenance—they are a lifeline. During the school week, many have access to school meals, but once Friday arrives, the absence of food security can create tremendous challenges. Your donation helps bridge that gap, ensuring that no child has to go hungry over the weekend.\r\n\r\nThis program has already made a significant difference in the lives of countless students. Since your contribution, we've seen an increase in attendance, improved concentration in the classroom, and a greater sense of well-being among the students who benefit from the food packs. Parents and teachers alike have expressed their deep gratitude for the relief your donation has brought, both in terms of food and the sense of stability it offers to families struggling with food insecurity.\r\n\r\nHere are just a few of the impacts we've witnessed:\r\n\r\nImproved Health and Well-being: Students receiving weekend meals report feeling more energetic and focused when they return to school on Monday.\r\nIncreased School Attendance: With the assurance of meals over the weekend, students are more likely to attend school regularly, as they are not worried about food insecurity.\r\nStronger Family Relationships: With food security for the weekend, families experience less stress and can focus on spending quality time together.\r\nYour commitment to alleviating hunger and supporting education has created a ripple effect of positivity that extends far beyond the students themselves. We can't thank you enough for standing with us to help nourish our future leaders.\r\n\r\nWe would love to keep you updated on the continued success of this initiative and share the stories of the students whose lives have been touched by your generosity. If you'd like to learn more about how your contribution is being used, or if you'd like to visit a food distribution event, please don't hesitate to reach out.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and unwavering support.
