Your support has empowered my ability to create a peaceful, enjoyable, and exciting learning environment for all of my students. My students request sand time and after their work is completed, they eagerly rush towards the sand table. The puzzles have provided guidance with matching, recognizing patterns, and how pieces connect. This has created independent workstations that allows me to work with multiple students by moving throughout the room to each group. The stepping stones are used throughout the day. Upon the entrance into the classroom several students will walk across them and when they need a movement break, they will gravitate to the stepping stones then return to their seats. The sensory cushions help my students sit for 10 minutes and engage in my lesson while enjoying the bouncy sensation.\r\n\r\nMy classroom is filled with unpredictability as it relates to the mood or sensory needs of each student. By having a variety of items that supports their sensory needs, I'm able to manage and reduce the duration and even the frequency of outbursts. Thank you for believing that your contributions had the potential to make meaningful outcomes within my classroom. I'm better equipped to excel as a teacher because of donors like you.","fullyFundedDate":1757982281085,"projectUrl":"project/calming-minds-and-inspiring-creativity/9690106/","projectTitle":"Calming Minds and Inspiring Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shelley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10244715_orig.jpg?crop=1378,1378,x9,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757376885323","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10244715"},{"teacherId":6462185,"projectId":9385294,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution! The new resources—self-regulation tools, take-home folders, fidgets and name tags—have already made a meaningful difference in our daily classroom routines. One specific moment that stands out was during our morning meeting when students were introduced to the self-regulation items. We created a \"calm corner\" using the tools, and students were taught how to use them when they felt overwhelmed or needed a break. One student, who previously struggled with transitions, now independently uses a sensory item from the corner to self-soothe and return to learning more focused and calm. The take-home folders have also streamlined our communication with families, helping students take more responsibility for their work and stay organized.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and curiosity. They loved choosing and personalizing their name tags, which gave them a sense of belonging and pride in their classroom space. The self-regulation tools were especially well received—many students immediately began exploring how each item could help them manage their feelings. Going forward, we're working on a social-emotional learning unit where students will reflect on their emotions, recognize their triggers, and choose strategies (including those from the new materials) to support themselves. Your support has given them not only tools but confidence in navigating their day with greater independence and structure.","fullyFundedDate":1750773713653,"projectUrl":"project/communicate-and-celebrate/9385294/","projectTitle":"Communicate and Celebrate!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fields","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6462185_orig.jpg?crop=278,278,x0,y1&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1560304966497","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6462185"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48104","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":870,"numTeachers":73,"percentFrplEligible":63,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":37,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":30,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.6,"schoolId":48104,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Smyrna Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Smyrna Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/cobb-county-school-district/brown-elementary-school/48104"}
