Thanks to your support, my students have experienced an enriching, hands-on learning opportunity that extends far beyond the traditional classroom.\r\n\r\nYour contribution allowed us to purchase essential supplies- soil, seeds, tools, temperature lights and more--that brought our class garden to life. More importantly, it brought excitement, responsibility ,and curiosity into the hearts of our students.\r\n\r\nFrom planting the first seeds, my students have gained a deeper understanding of science, the environment, nutrition, and teamwork. For many, this was their first experience growing something from the ground up, and they've taken immense pride in watching their efforts bloom--literally.\r\n\r\n The class garden has also become a space for social-emotional learning. It's a peaceful area in the class where students work collaboratively, practice patience, and engage in meaningful conversations about sustainability and taking care of our planet.\r\n\r\nHere's just a few words from my students:\r\n\r\n\"I didn't know plants could grow so fast!\"\r\n\r\n\"It's fun digging in the dirt and learning at the same time.\"\r\n\r\n\"This class garden makes me feel alive.\"\r\n\r\nThank you for planting the seeds of curiosity, learning, and growth-both in our class garden and in the minds of my students. I assembled the rotating snack wheel labeled it \"Snack Station,\" and my students' faces instantly lit up with excitement when they saw the options they could choose from. Your generous support has made a meaningful difference in our classroom and in the lives of our students.\r\nSince receiving the headphones, we've seen noticeable improvements in benchmark scores and reading comprehension—particularly through the use of the researched based Imagine Learning language program. With each student now having their own set of headphones, they're able to focus, engage fully in the program, and progress at their own pace without distractions.\r\nBeyond academic improvements, the morale in the classroom has soared. Students take pride in having their own equipment, which fosters a stronger sense of ownership and confidence. Before the grant, we had only a limited number of headphones, and students had to share them on a first-come, first-serve basis. This often meant that the same students had the best opportunity to use headphones. Now, no one is left out, and that equity has made a powerful impact!\r\nThank you again for investing in our students' success and supporting their language learning journey. Your kindness has truly opened up new opportunities for them to thrive.\r\nWith much gratitude,\r\nMrs. Kristina Kelley\r\nESOL Specialist & Tier II Liaison \r\nMichelle Obama STEM Elementary Academy","fullyFundedDate":1740497379847,"projectUrl":"project/first-listen-then-speak/8958674/","projectTitle":"First Listen!-Then-Speak!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kelley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9844735_orig.png?crop=288,288,x112,y110&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732297127240","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9844735"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_128409","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1048,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":80,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":47.4,"schoolId":128409,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Michelle Obama STEM Elementary Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Michelle Obama STEM Elementary Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/clayton-county-public-schools/michelle-obama-stem-academy/128409"}
