We recently started the season and have a team of 13 girls. There are a range of skills and experience, yet each one came out eager to learn more about the game. Due to various reasons, we are limited on how often we can practice, but this year we were prepared...\r\nBecause of your donation, we were able to provide every girl with her own basketball (to keep)! We taught them how to use it to aid in their practicing when they are at home. Some of them even bring them to school and use them to practice during their recess or specials times. These basketballs are a gift that keeps on giving and they are something they will carry with them long after the season is over. \r\nAdditionally, we had the joy of unboxing water bottles before our first game. Every girl got one and many have decided to decorate them and make them their own. We use these every week during our games and practices. \r\nWe are so lucky to have a community like you supporting our elementary girls basketball team. We use our headphones almost daily! \r\n\r\nEvery year our school requires families to purchase headphones for any of their kids that attend our school, but this year I had the privilege of informing them that there was no need to purchase headphones throughout the year for their child because we had community members donate a whole class set. You have helped me take some of the burden off of the families we serve. This project helps support social-emotional learning for our children and helps to combat some of the food insecurity we often see. More importantly, the students are loving their daily snack. We are two months into school, and still have snack for at least another month, maybe even two. They enjoy the different supplies we have received to get them up and moving as well! The moving dice have been such a fun, quick brain break. We also used them to study verbs. We use the drawing boards for calm down moments and the kids don't know it yet, but they will receive some of these items throughout the year to keep. We have been very blessed and notice the effects daily!\r\n\r\nBecause our project was funded so quickly, our class received all of the packages before the start of the school year, so they were not there for the unboxing. However, every time we get to interact with the moving dice, use the play-dough, go in the treasure chest, or open a new box for our snack basket, the students faces light up! They also understand that the community has donated these items to our classroom because y'all believe in them. This is a project I hope to keep going and will definitely being restocking in the near future. We feel so blessed to be loved and supported by our community.
