The two personal compact CD players and accompanying read-aloud books with CDs allow students to listen to stories while following along in the book. This has been especially helpful for building independence, listening skills, vocabulary, and a love of reading.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were so excited to see the CD players and immediately wanted to try them out. They loved being able to choose a book, put on the headphones, and listen to the story at their own pace. It has been wonderful to watch students become more confident and independent as they use the listening center.\r\n\r\nThroughout the year, Students will continue to use the listening center to practice following along with text, identifying characters and important details, and retelling stories they have heard. These resources are helping make reading an enjoyable experience while giving my students the confidence and independence they need to become successful readers. We use the file folder games in small groups to practice social-emotional skills in a fun, hands-on way. The stuffies have become comforting friends during moments when students need help identifying or expressing their feelings, and the emotion play dough mats give students a creative way to recognize and talk about different emotions.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw all of the new materials, they were immediately excited and eager to explore them. It has been wonderful to see students become more comfortable talking about emotions and practicing ways to manage them.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our SEL lessons, students will keep using these resources to identify emotions, practice appropriate ways to express their feelings, and develop strategies for calming their bodies when they feel overwhelmed. These materials have helped make learning about emotions engaging, interactive, and meaningful for my students.
