It made it possible for us to buy a class set of Ozobots. Words cannot fully show how excited our students were when the big box arrived. Many of the children in our room come from homes where buying extra technology is just not possible. Because of you, they have the same high-tech chances as other students.\r\nLearning how to use the Ozobots was a true adventure for not just the students but for me as well. On our very first day, the children sat in small circles. We talked about how the robots have tiny sensors underneath their bodies. These sensors read colors. We handed out thick black, red, green, and blue markers.\r\nThe students learned how to draw a simple black line on a piece of white paper. They watched as the little robot followed the path they made. The kids went wild with excitement. \"I want a turn\" echoed throughout the room. They quickly learned that if the line curved or stopped, the robot stopped too. If they made a mistake, they could fix it by drawing a new line. They learned that making mistakes is just part of figuring things out. Each time we use the Ozobots the students learn something new. The last time we used the Ozobots the students had gone to Art class. The art teacher was giving a lesson on making art using lines (straight, curved, etc.) It was great to see them figure out why the Ozobot moved so freely or came to a halt. Some lines were too close. The students worked together taking turns sharing markers, placing the Ozobots on the paper. You made a real difference in the lives of 17 wonderful kindergarten students.","fullyFundedDate":1775101064500,"projectUrl":"project/reading-with-robots/9971328/","projectTitle":"Reading with Robots","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Coady","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/792777"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_127739","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":663,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":90,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":127739,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about John R Lewis Elementary on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"John R Lewis Elementary","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/bibb-county-school-district/john-r-lewis-elementary-school/127739"}
