Because of your support, our students have had the opportunity to explore new texts that honor Native American cultures, stories, and perspectives. Using these books, we've introduced lessons on empathy, cultural identity, and respectful inquiry, while also focusing on literacy skills like sequencing, summarizing, and drawing inferences. Reading in our classroom is an interactive process—students gather on the carpet for read-alouds, break into small groups for discussions, and work one-on-one or in teams to explore stories more deeply\r\nSeveral students have been especially enthusiastic about the new books, gravitating toward titles that offer both historical insight and vibrant storytelling. One student, for instance, regularly chooses to re-read stories about tribal traditions and art, excitedly sharing facts and illustrations with classmates. Another group of learners has been especially engaged with nonfiction selections, sparking thoughtful questions and class discussions about Native history and contemporary life. Your gift has helped foster a genuine love of reading and a deeper understanding of Native American heritage among all our students, and we are so grateful for the impact it's making every day.","fullyFundedDate":1757883682855,"projectUrl":"project/native-american-resources/9487480/","projectTitle":"Native American Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ziskend","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9291714_orig.png?crop=295,295,x16,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695258195212","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9291714"},{"teacherId":9291714,"projectId":9714802,"letterContent":"When the STEAM fine motor toys arrived, my students were overjoyed. The room buzzed with excitement as they explored the pieces, quickly moving from play to purposeful building. One of our favorite projects so far has been designing a \"mini city,\" where small groups constructed connected structures with moving parts. This activity not only strengthened their fine motor skills but also encouraged teamwork, creativity, and perseverance when their designs didn't succeed on the first try.\r\n\r\nThese materials will continue to play a big role in our upcoming lessons on engineering and problem-solving. Students will use them to connect what they learn about simple machines and forces in science with hands-on building projects.
