The staff have been working on positive communication, we are working on building language skills, self-expression, and the ability for the littles to share feelings without hitting our friends because they feel frustrated. With the resources received, we were able to design engaging lessons that fostered hands-on learning.\r\nThroughout the project, students gained valuable skills such as problem solving, positive language skills, self-expression i.e. \"I feel statements\" the student's developed a deeper understanding of positive self-expression. The materials increased student interest, leading to increased student motivation and participation.\r\nThe feedback from students has been positive. The first thing the students do when they enter the STEM lab, is to look to the hydroponic garden to see how much the flowers and the herbs have grown. We are collecting data on a chart on the wall as to when the seeds were first put into the garden, when they sprouted, the length of the vines/stems, when the herbs were harvested, etc. It is truly an amazing sight to behold. \r\nAs a veteran teacher I do not think I've ever witnessed so much excitement from students. We're currently growing dill, basil, thyme, cilantro, parsley, rosemary and lettuce in my intermediate STEM lab. In my primary STEM lab, with my younger students, we're growing dwarf sunflowers, dahlias, petunias (with one vine reaching over four feet), marigolds, and cockscomb. Your support has inspired a love of gardening in countless students. I cannot say how helpful it is to get a donation and not to spend extra money.
