Having the hydroponic gardens in the STEM Labs have brought my students so much joy! Every time they arrive, they check the growth of the plants. \r\nYesterday, a second grade class and a kindergarten class were able to eat lettuce that was literally picked moments before they put it in their mouth. Young children are not always known for liking vegetables, but every student (except for one, who admitted he wasn't a fan) gave the lettuce a thumbs up. By allowing the students to witness the growth from seed to table, they are developing an appreciation for fresh produce. \r\nIn addition, I've planted seeds in pots at the same time that I planted them in the hydroponic garden. My students are able to watch a live experiment of which seeds grow better in soil versus water. Not only is this a great lesson about the scientific method and how to conduct an experiment, but they are able to visibly see that they plants grow better in the water. Who knows, one of these children may grow up to solve the problem of food deserts, using hydroponics, all thanks to you and your support!","fullyFundedDate":1766893651975,"projectUrl":"project/from-seed-to-table-science/9810872/","projectTitle":"From Seed to Table Science","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reinke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4944150_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727384024116","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rachel-reinke"},{"teacherId":4944150,"projectId":9864345,"letterContent":"I cannot express to you how incredibly grateful I am for your support!
